T-Shirts That Shouldn’t Exist, Part 3: Right Wing Madness

What can you conclude about a site with with at least five different shirts displaying President Reagan’s image? That’s gotta be some seriously conservative t-shirt site! No, I’m not talking about Deez Teez, it’s Those Shirts that got liberals all worked up. We’re talking about saving paving whales, nuking mecca, even neutering pets! Still not interested? How about blonde and brunette Texan models wearing Che t-shirts, baring mid-riffs and toting AK-47s?

  1. Hey, Joe, thanks for faithfully reading my posts and leaving some comments. I think that the T-Shirts That Shouldn’t Exist┬ácategory I recently created is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, in that I’m not really saying that t-shirts shouldn’t exist or that they should be burned (there’s a headline!). While the goal is to feature stuff that’s original and creative, sometimes it’s fun to do the complete opposite and show stuff that’s either really lame, poorly designed, really annoying (in my mind), or just plain weird, and I hope some of my readers feel that way too. All this while trying to avoid bashing other points of view too much.

You actually made a similar comment on an earlier post, What Would Jesus Wear?, which makes me wonder about your further thoughts on this. Do you believe that there is no such thing as bad publicity, and that bringing light to these shirts for entertaiment purposes does more harm than good?

  2. Heh, I had forgotten that I made a similar comment before. I feel that even though most of your readers might not like these shirts, somebody might find this post and, despite any disparaging comments, like what they see and follow the links to buy the t-shirts. I think there can be bad publicity (CEO indicted for embezzlement, maybe?), but I don’t think this is it.

  3. Hello,

First off I want to say its awesome to find a regularly updated blog about all aspects of the t-shirt industry, instead of just giving a link to yet another too expensive and way too pretentious overexposed threadless t-shirt contest winner.

Anyway the shirts above make me want to vomit. It’s not just the politics if they were the liberal version I would want to vomit also. Anytime you get extremist nutjobs it just turns the rest of the world against your cause so here’s hoping Sanity returns in 2008.

  4. Yeah I’m purchasing 17 of each of those, and bringing them to my sons day care for the parents to take home. No but really, If I’m offended by someone’s T-Shirt, I shouldn’t be reading it. It’s a form of self expression not public nosiness.

To be fair there is always a line that can be crossed, but none of those do that.
